The environment, social responsibility and good corporate governance have always been part of LD Pensions’ DNA. However, we have lacked reliable data on sustainability. For their part, companies have lacked a tool that could provide a systematic and transparent framework for their self-assessment and reporting. That is what Future-Fit delivers.
There are many methods within ESG (environment, social and governance) which, as a general rule, assign ESG ratings to companies based on ‘best-in-class’ published policies. Whilst this can be useful, it rarely provides a comprehensive picture of companies’ sustainability in relation to the planet’s resources.
Through their production methods, products or waste, all businesses continue to contribute to the depletion of the Earth’s resources and ecosystems. And although many companies are working towards targets for reducing their environmental impact and so on, it is difficult to set targets for what is required to become fully sustainable. It is one thing to report on improvements compared with previous years or against industry standards, but how do they measure up against global thresholds? These are questions that Future-Fit helps to answer, and one of the reasons why LD Pensions has chosen to work on raising awareness of Future-Fit.
