In the first quarter of 2020, Nordea will take over the investments in LD Pensions’ LD Environment and Climate portfolio, which currently has assets of DKK 550 million. It is expected that the portfolio’s assets will increase significantly over time.
For more than 10 years, Nordea has been working on investments with a focus on sustainability and, in recent years, on supporting the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals relating to the environment and climate. Along the way, the concept has been expanded to include active ownership, and it is constantly being developed.
LD Pensions aims to make a real difference
It has been crucial for LD Pensions that the new investment adviser in the field of sustainable investment understands the collaboration on active ownership that LD Pensions has initiated with the non-profit organisation Future-Fit. Future-Fit has developed a tool to help companies move towards the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
The partnership with Future-Fit reflects LD Pensions’ desire to be able to set measurable sustainability requirements in its collaboration with asset managers, companies and Partners. LD Pensions has an ambitious aim to help ensure that all the companies in which it invests demonstrate good corporate governance and engage in sustainable and responsible business practices.
Nordea won despite a strong field
LD Pensions’ selection of Nordea as its new investment adviser follows a public EU tender. Seventeen bids were received, and Nordea ultimately competed against 10 other bidders to win the contract with LD Pensions.
“It has been an intense and exciting bidding process, and it has been a privilege to have such a strong field of candidates. There are now a great many managers, both new and experienced, in the field of sustainable investment, which makes it possible to set quite ambitious targets. We are therefore looking forward to, and have great confidence in, our collaboration with Nordea,” says Charlotte Mark.
