Frozen holiday allowance for three weeks can now be paid out

Nyhed Tuesday, September 29, 2020 The Holiday Allowance Fund
Today, we are opening the option for early payouts of your holiday allowance funds through the Employees' Holiday Allowance Fund. If you do not request payouts, the money will be invested as a pension lump sum, which you will receive when you leave the labour market.

We have today made it possible for up to three weeks’ worth of accrued holiday allowance funds to be paid out. If you have accrued holiday allowance funds between 1 September 2019 and 31 March 2020, you can visit borger.dk from today until 1 December 2020 to claim your holiday allowance funds.

Originally, the plan was for the frozen holiday allowance funds to be saved up and paid out upon retirement. Over the summer, a political decision was then taken to pay out three of the five weeks’ worth of frozen holiday allowance to anyone who wishes to receive it. A measure intended to benefit the Danish economy.

LD Pensions has therefore been working with ATP, which is responsible for the administrative side of the holiday allowance payouts, to ensure that the payouts are ready to be made before 1 October, which is a full year earlier than the original plan for the first payouts from the fund – which, it should be noted, were only intended for citizens eligible for payouts. We have succeeded in making payouts available to everyone, and from today you can log on to borger.dk to request payouts for up to three weeks of your accrued holiday allowance funds.

How to do it

Your accrued holiday allowance funds will not be paid out automatically; you must request payouts yourself. You can do this by visiting borger.dk/bestil-feriemidler or via the link above. This will take you to a self-service page where you’ll need to log in using NemID, after which you’ll need to select the employment situation that applies to you. You can now see how much you are entitled to receive and select ‘Request holiday allowance funds’. Once you have requested your holiday allowance funds, you cannot cancel the payouts. You will receive a letter from the employees' holiday allowance fund via eBoks, showing how much you will receive and how the amount has been calculated. The money will be credited to your NemKonto within seven working days of you ordering it.

You still have savings in the Holiday Allowance Fund

If you have worked throughout the transition year from 1 September 2019 to 31 August 2020, you have accrued up to five weeks’ holiday allowance funds. You can choose to have three of those weeks paid out now. If you do not need them straight away, you can choose to leave them in your account. They will be held as pension savings alongside the rest of your accrued holiday allowance funds until you leave the labour market. The holiday allowance funds are in The Holiday Allowance Fund, which is managed by LD Pensions, the organisation that also manages the Cost-of-Living Allowance Fund.

Beware of fake emails and text messages

If you receive an email or a text message telling you that your holiday pay is due to be paid out – be on your guard.
The Holiday Allowance Fund will not contact you by email or text message, nor will we ring you to ask for your confidential details, such as your national insurance number, NemID, credit card or bank account details.
